Hands Free mode - Samsung Galaxy S4?

Hi Daniel. My Galaxy S4 keep automatically turning on Hands free mode and issuing voice requests. How do I disable it please?

To disable Hand-free on your Samsung Galaxy S4, follow these procedures: Go to Home > tap on Menu Key (lower-left soft key) > Tap on Settings >My Device > Input and Control > Language and Input > Speech > Voice Search > Speech output > You will see that Hands-free mode is enabled > Tick on Off to disable Hands-free mode. You can also refer to Question#1 for more detailed instructions.

Ensure that you turn off hands free mode long with your TalkBack feature that may be activated on your device. A lot of people get the two features mixed up causing the voice commands to continue to be spoken out.

Hands free mode switches itself on?

Hi Daniel. Not sure if this is your area or not. But this morning my phone went into hands free mode by itself - along with various too early in the morning notification sounds. I switched off - but it came back on again, and started searches. Any way to disable this?

The problem with your hands-free mode switching itself on could be linked when you receive notifications. You can try to adjust some notifications on your device and also remove apps that are linked to it. Here's how:

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  • Go to the "Home Screen" and select "Apps".
  • On the "Apps" tab, click on "Settings".
  • Go to "My Device" tab and choose "Sound".
  • Go to "Notifications" and select the notifications that you want to be adjusted and click "OK".

You can also try to switch your phone into "Safe Mode".

Is this the same as hands free mode?

I accidentally hit hands free mode (icon does look like a car steering wheel so I assume so) and now have tried to turn it off since it probably will drain the battery more quickly than if off.

It keeps giving me a dialogue box about third party applications and at the bottom, expects me to confirm about Samsung and Sprint not being responsible, etc. I obviously don't want to confirm this.

Suggestions?

It seems that you have actually tapped a totally different icon and it's not for hands free. I suggest you go through each of your applications and see which one corresponds to the icon that you have tapped. Hands free function won't necessarily give you this kind of prompt, so this is something unusual and you should not be confirming any waiver like that unless you are totally sure what you are giving waiver for.

Cancel or Deactivate Voice Command on Samsung Galaxy 3?

Hi Daniel. I have an iPhone, so I'm not much help to my Dad who has a Samsung Galaxy S3. He was playing with his phone, activated the voice command, and now he is telling me he can't get into Settings to change it back. I noticed in this article it said there is a secret button. Is that the way in? ~ Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Hi. I am trying to keep Hands free mode from activating every time there is a notification?

I saw where you guided one person through the menu, but my Galaxy S4 does not have a lot of the menu items that people refer to in these forums. I can enter settings, but there is nothing in there by the name "My Device". This is not the first time I have run into this issue. I could not set up the phone locator because I did not have a menu option that everyone on YouTube seem to have. Any ideas what is going on here. The phone is brand new and it came from a Verizon kiosk in SAMS CLUB this way right out of the box.
