Guy have me a watch for my birthday?
I've been seeing this guy for about 3 months, we've been talking for about 5 months and we've had an open relationship, sort of talked about being exclusive but haven't gotten any further, however that's my choice not his. He continually tells me that if I want to date other guys and he's fine with it but if I date more than one or two then he starts getting upset. And just this past week he gave me a watch for my birthday that's coming up in a couple weeks. I've looked online and it says that it means that he cares and is serious about me, however he won't express this to me himself. Well he does say that he cares about me and he does say that he misses me quite a bit because we don't see each other very often, try every other weekend for usually one night that for some reason or another gets cut short. Also for the past month when we do see each other it's usually just sex and yet when I tell him that he gets offended. We've been moving slow, my choice, not his, because I'm going through a divorce, but he goes along with moving slow and won't say much. I've briefly met his friends but when I ask him questions about his family he tries to get me to talk about something else, it's not that they have a bad relationship but he seems overly concerned with me asking about his family. It's just really confusing, does he want to be with me more seriously or not? And does the watch mean anything? When he gave it to me I asked him what it was it for and said for your birthday. Then he told me that it was for wearing with good clothes and when I went to put it away in my bag he told me to put it on, so I did and that was the end of the conversation. Help! What does he want? I do like him but have my own fears about moving forward which is why I've kept him at a little bit of a distance emotionally.. I have tried: I've tried not talking to him but then he gets upset, I've said that I've stopped talking to other guys and he asked me why to which I replied because you get upset and to which he said You do what makes You happy. I've been stepping back more emotionally as this was a casual thing and I don't want to move fast. He gets really upset though when I tell him that I'm stepping back.. I think it was caused by: I know why I'm keeping him at bay as I'm coming out of a marriage, was dating someone else when I met him (and I fell for that first guy way to soon, only to have my heart broken). Now I'm too afraid to let this guy close, especially since he isn't really opening up about his feelings.
