How to respond by a letter to your favorite uncle who is inviting you to visit him and his family to their house?
How to respond by a letter to your favorite uncle who is inviting you to come and visit him to his house, but due to lack of time you cannot come and you need to focus on your studies and work, but you are willing to go and visit him at the right time
Dearest Uncle Their Name,
I was delighted when I saw that you have requested me to visit with you. Unfortunately, due to my class and work schedule, I will not be able to visit during the time you have suggested. I have free time in my schedule after my final exams in the month of May and if this time would work for you as well please let me know so that I can request the time off from work. I hope that this letter finds you in good health and spirit and I look forward to seeing you soon. Please know that I have the highest regard for you and honor that you are in my family.
In the invitation letter mentioned "you", does it mean me and my wife?
In the invitation letter mentioned "you", does it mean me and my wife?
The formality of terms in an invitation often depends on the type of event, and your marital status, as known to the person or organization that has invited you. Traditionally, an invitation will include you, and one guest. The guest is expected to be you and your spouse or significant other. Not everyone does this though, and proper etiquette is often overlooked, or not observed by many.
For example, if you are invited to a wedding, it is expected that you will bring your wife, but not children unless you confirm that it's OK to bring children in advance. If, however, the person who invited you does not know that you are married (perhaps because you did not invite them to your own wedding), then you will need to let them know you are married and confirm that they have an extra place.
Alternatively, if you are invited to a wedding, and you are not married, the term 'you' means only you. You should only bring your girlfriend if it is a very serious affair, and even then, not unless you check with the bride and groom. Weddings are expensive, and especially in less traditional parts of the world, like North America, it's not acceptable to bring a 'date' unless asked to do so, or if it's your wife.
Formal corporate events that specify 'you' mean the person working for the company. It's not acceptable to bring your wife to a corporate dinner for a sales team, where that dinner may be part of a sales conference or presentation that does not concern or involve your wife.
On the other hand, a dinner celebration where your company is handing out awards, that specifies 'you' will almost always include your wife or guest.
When in doubt, Go by the rule that you should always check with the person or group you received the invitation from, and you'll be fine. It's better to be safe than sorry.
I have received an invitation to a conference, I have a question about the expenses of the travel to there and accommodation. I want to know who is in charge of paying this, me or the conference? I do not know how to ask my questions about money in a pleasant way, can you help me?
Ask about expenses of the travel to there and accommodation.
Dear Their Name,
I would like to attend the conference and need to know if I have to arrange travel and accommodations to the conference. Please let me know if there is a fee to attend the conference as well so that I can allow for the expense.
