Get Directions to TripAdvisor Locations with Microsoft Lumia 535
Edited by Thor, Crystal, Eng, Anonymous
Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to get directions to a location found on the TripAdvisor application when using the Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Once the phone is activated, we'll see the lock screen.
Swipe the lock screen up, and this will take us to the home screen.
On the home screen, we need to find the TripAdvisor tile.
It has a green background, and in the middle is the TripAdvisor logo. This is a hypnotic owl with very large eyes. If TripAdvisor has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find it in the Apps menu.
Once TripAdvisor has been located, press down on it, and this will allow us to enter the application.
In this application, we will quickly find a page to get directions to. A page is a hotel, attraction or restaurant.
Once the application is loaded, we will swipe left or right until we find the "near me" section.
It will say "near me" in black lettering in the top left corner.
We are going to choose the "hotels" option.
It says "hotels" at the bottom in white writing, in a green rectangle. It will show us the local hotels.
We are going to choose a random hotel.
Now we can demonstrate how to get directions to this location.
We can see the word "details" at the top.
This is the section we need to be in.
If we look down, we will see the name of the hotel and underneath of that, it will say the address.
It's important to remember that anything that's green on this application, we can press and it will allow us to open it in another application. We want to press down on the address. This will not open up the TripAdvisor map, it will open the Microsoft Map application, and this is what allows us to get directions. The map that we look at on the TripAdvisor application does not allow this function.
Let's press down on the address to open the address in the Microsoft Map application.
We want to get directions to this hotel so that we can follow our phone.
Press the 3 white dots in a row, in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
That will open the menu with four circles at the top of it.
We want to press the second circle from the left.
It's a white diamond with a black arrow inside of it with the word "directions" underneath of it.
Now it is asking us for the start and end addresses.
With this phone, we have two options. The first is to get directions to this address from our current location. That means that it will use GPS to locate us. We're going to have this function turned on our Microsoft Lumia 535, which should automatically be turned on. We also need to allow this application permission to access our location. If we've allowed that, we'll be able to find directions to the location from our current location.
If we're happy, we can press the white box with a black arrow inside of it in the bottom right-hand corner.
If we press that, it will load the directions from our current location. We also have the option to change the start location as well. For example, if we wanted to find directions from the train station to the hotel.
Press down where it says "my location", delete the text, and type in the address or name.
If we know the name of the hotel, airport, or landmark, we can type it in this area.
We're happy with using our current location, so we're going to press the white square with the black arrow to get directions from where we are.
It has found our current location and is directing us to the hotel that we just found in the TripAdvisor application.
If we want to see the different steps, we can press "route steps", and that will show us all of the different stages of the journey.
If we have to use the voice navigation, we can tap on "start voice nav".
We can actually scroll through the directions to see the different steps as well.
We can also choose to have a route for a car, public transport, or walking.
This concludes the tutorial on how to get directions to a location found on the TripAdvisor application when using the Microsoft Lumia 535.
