A badly scratched CD

Even though CDs (Compact Discs) are usually very durable, it can be very difficult to keep one from getting scratched. A scratched CD may cause loss of data, problems with game graphics, etc. There are commercially available kits for repairing a scratched CD but you can easily repair one yourself by following the methods below.

Tips

  • Try another game in your console to make sure the problem is with the scratched CD, and not with the console itself.
  • Use a microfiber cloth for better results.
  • Clean the inside of your console with a DRY cloth.

Warnings

  • DO NOT PUT A WET CD INSIDE YOUR CONSOLE, AS YOU WILL SHORT IT OUT!
  • If you have problems with any of these steps, ask a question for more help, or post in the comments section below.
