Use an anime recommendation website

There are a few websites that can help you decide what anime you should watch next. Two of the best are:

  1. 1
    My Anime List.
This website lets you keep a record of which animes you've watched. It also contains information about every anime listed, including a summary, data like date of release and episode number, and cast of characters and voice actors. The best feature though, is the recommendations section. Here other members of the website share what animes are similar to the one you're viewing, and others can rate the recommendations. Since the suggestions are made by real people and not an algorithm, they are generally spot on. You can find My Anime List at this link.

    Anime Suggestions.
This website lets you put the name of an anime, and get similar suggestions. You can browse information about the suggested animes, add them to a list, or even continue down a recommendation journey by seeing suggestions based on other animes in the list. Best of all, you can click to buy or watch the anime on Funimation, which uses Hulu and hosts a lot of the animes online without needing a subscription. You can find Anime Suggestions at this link.

  1. 1
Are you looking for a series or a movie?
When you say anime you might think of the Japanese animated series, but there are many full length features available to watch as well. Movies are great for one sitting, while series are better watched over a period of time (or binge-watched through one night if you really get hooked!)

Are you looking for romance or action?
Anime has a couple of sub genres, but a large portion is divided by gender. Anime "for boys" often features action, adventure, and sometimes horror and gore. Anime "for girls" is often more about romance, sexuality, and relationships as a whole. You can read more about the different genres within anime in this article. And of course this does not mean men can't watch and enjoy Shoujo or women can't watch and enjoy Shonen - these are simply the defining characteristics of the types of anime.
