Find Your Phone Number on Samsung Galaxy S3

Edited by Maria, Mac Evans Cerrillo, Alma, Melsan and 4 others

If you don’t memorize your own number, it is helpful to know where you can find or locate your number from your mobile. Whenever someone asks me what’s my number I always prefer to ask their number and then I will ring their phone because I don’t memorize my number and I always forget where and how to locate it on my mobile. Sometimes I even borrow a friend’s mobile and check my number from there, which can be very inconvenient. I also have a copy of my mobile in my computer’s notepad, and copy and paste whenever I need to fill in some forms online and or some paper forms. In this article we will help you learn how to find your number on your Samsung Galaxy S3, which is easier than borrowing someone else’s mobile and/or turning on your computer and navigating to find where you saved your number. After all, what if you are in a place where you don’t have your computer with you, and have no friend around with your number in their mobile. You need to find your number on your own if you cannot memorize it, so if it is a trouble for you to remember your number all the time, then here are some simple steps to help you easily locate it with your Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile.

EditOn my Galaxy S3, when I tap on states, it shows my first phone number about a year ago when I just bought the phone. How do I change that number?

  1. 1
Perhaps the easiest non-tech way is, long before you install your new SIM/phone number, you should look at the back of the new SIM.
Somewhere in the pack (the number is usually printed on the hard cardboard where the unused SIM is stuck), you will find the SIM number. Write it down in a trusted notebook or pad, then put it in your wallet or somewhere safe.
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  2. 2
Memorize the number again and again.
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  3. 3
Text the new telephone number to your spouse or best friend.
Then lock that message so you cannot delete it.
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  4. 4
As you said, what is reflected on the Galaxy S3 is your old telephone number.
Just follow the same steps: Settings > About Phone > Status. Then just edit into it your new telephone number.
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  5. 5
There is a code for the International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI :
    *#06#
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  6. 6
The IMEI number of the Samsung Galaxy S3 can be found on the back side of the phone's battery.
When your S3 is lost or stolen, you can use the IMEI number to deactivate your phone. If you do not want to open the phone to see the IMEI on the battery's backside, do the following steps:
    1. On your home screen, tap the phone icon. Or another option is to still go to the home screen, then go to "Apps", then tap on "Phone".
    2. Tap on the "Keypad" tab.
    3. Encode/enter *#06#, then you press the call icon.
    4. The IMEI number of the S3 will then be displayed on the phone screen.
    5. If you had your S3 already blocked or deactivated, the IMEI of the said phone will be blacklisted.

Can't find my mobile phone number in options?

Android 4.3 looked everywhere

You'll need to go into Settings>about phone>status and you will find your phone's IMEI and number listed. Check out the screen shot here:

See more questions like this: How do I find my phone number on my galaxy S3

In the step: "Then tap "Status". " on new Android 4.3 there is no button "Status"?

In the step: "Then tap "Status". On new Android 4.3 there is no button "Status"

Yes, there is the option status on the new Android version. You just need to ensure that you are going to the about device section>>status>>then view your phone number

on new Android 4.3 there is no button "Status"

The "Status" option is a basic information that can be found on the "My Device or About Device". You should be able to see this option on your phone screen to view the basic information that you nee to know on your phone. Specially if you wanted to know your phone number if you forgot what it is or not yet memorized, for you to be familiar with. Supposedly, when you go to Settings then "About Device" the Status is right on top of the screen where you can tap it to view more options and your phone number. What you can try is to do a factory reset of the phone, but you need to make a back up first to a computer for you to restore them after the reset. If you cannot find the status on your phone still when you view the "About Device", there are a lot of ways on how you can find out what is your phone number on your Samsung Galaxy S3. Such as:

1. Check one of your contacts on phone. Get another phone then call or text the person you wished to ask about your phone number and make sure that they have your phone number saved in their contacts as well. That way, you can easily check or find out your phone number that you forgot or you haven't memorized

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

2. If you can make a phone call on your phone where you want to figure out your phone number. You can simply do a ring on your phone number to a land line phone that has a caller ID to know that phone number.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

3. If you have an old phone that is still working with a SIM card in it. You can simply call that number as it will reflect on screen and write it down on a piece of paper for you to have a copy and memorize it.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

4. You can also call your network carrier to know what is you phone number. They simply have a visibility of your phone number and to provide it to you to know more of it and be familiar.

About device does not show up when I scroll down

It is very odd that you are not seeing the about device on the phone as this is a basic setting on the phone that you can view to check your device information. The about device is one of the core features for you to get your phone updated on it's operating system. Since the about device is not present on your phone, when you need to do is to connect the phone to your PC or Laptop then use your Samsung Kies to check for updates and update the phone's Operating System

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

Another way is to do a factory settings on your phone for you to clear it out and to set the phone's system to factory settings. However, all of your data will be erase which you need to do a back up on a computer first then do a restore after to get them all back on the phone then check if the "About Device" is now showing on your phone settings.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

If you have a phone that was provided by a network carrier, you need to consider that they might restrict or hide some features of an Android phone. This is much common to some network carriers who put restriction or hide features to control and prevent identity theft when the owner wants to sold their phone to other people as they have it's IMEI, Mac address and so on.

Please note also that Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9003) of international version has bug to its firmware of 4.3 (Jelly Bean) as this might be the cause of why you are not seeing the "About Device" on your mobile phone. Currently, they are in the works to have this resolve and to get another update to re-install the 4.3 or you may get an update of 4.4 (KitKat) which is just a rumor but 100% for the 4.3 with fix patch.

I lost my phone today and I didn't do the tracking setup so is there any way you can still fine my phone?

Please help me I lost my phone today and I didn't do the tracking setup so is there any way you can still fine my phone

No, unfortunately without the application being on the device prior to you losing the device you are not going to be able to track the device effectively. In order to be able to set up the family locator or place an application on the device you are going to need to have physical possession of the device in order to perform this option.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

It is told and said that without putting the application or setting up the GPS tracking on the device prior you will not be able to trace the phone. I lost my phone before and I called my carrier to help me but they weren't of any help at all with locating my device without having a tracking application on my device.

Inability to derive tel no from Samsung Ace II?

Inability to derive tel no from Samsung Ace II.

If your phone is on a current mobile plan with a carrier/provider and it's been activated, you can find your phone number from the settings.

Go into the phone's settings>about phone and then tap on Status. Your phone's number, along with the serial and IMEI numbers will be displayed. Check screen shot below:

http://screencast.com/t/WdRpgNKWLjf

If your ace is already running on Jellybean, simply set up your profile on your phone book and your number should show up under about device in settings. If all else fails, just reset the phone by dialing : *2767*3855# . Make sure that you have backed up all your data using Samsung Kies before doing a factory reset.

Cannot dial my wife's phone number anymore since this weekend?

Hi daniel, I am having a problem actually connecting to my wires phone. I just bought her an S3 but it was flashed from Sprint to PagePlus and I ported her number from Verizon just this weekend she has lost the ability to receive incoming calls and now when I dial her her phone I get the phones original phone number in Wisconsin…help

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

I tried to solve this problem on my own when it happened to a relative of mine but it was unsuccessful. Fortunately for me there was a page plus location not too long ago which I visited so that they could re flash my phone and re enter my number onto the device.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

This is an error with the flash process from Sprint to Pageplus. By taking your device back to the store they can re flash your phone so that the process can in fact be solved. This is the recommended option that I can give you for this will ensure that your device is set up properly to the page plus carrier.

This doesn't show ( pretend as if you were telling a four year old ) how to change the number. Looking at the number on a piece of paper doesn't explain 'how' to alter the number through the phone

Did you change your network provider? Some Network provider does not set it up, that is why some phone does not recognize the SIM card numbers.

But we will also try to research more about it and when we find a solution we will post and add it to this article. :)
