Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to turn On and Off the option to scan an HTC One M8 for security threats.
To begin, turn the phone On by pressing the power button located on top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen; to unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen and at the bottom, we will see these icons here.
It is one of these icons that we now need to access as we need to open up the applications folder.
To open the applications folder, we need to press down on this icon located in the bottom center.
The icon is a grid made of white dots.
In the applications folder, we now need to find the Google Settings application.
Mine is located here. We can see that there is a gray cog with the Google "g" inside and underneath, it says the word "Google Settings". Your Google Settings application may be in a different position in this folder. Therefore, you will need to find it and once you have done that, press down on it to enter the application.
We can see that it says "Google Settings" at the top of this menu.
We need to scroll almost to the bottom and find the word "Security"; press down on this section and it will open up a new menu.
We want this option which says "Scan device for security threats", "Regularly check device activity and prevent or warn about potential harm".
We can see that this option is currently activated because the icon on the right is turquoise.
If we want to turn this option Off and deactivate it, we can just tap on the icon to do so.
The icon will turn gray once deactivated.
If we do want to regularly scan for security threats on the HTC One M8, then we can press down on the icon one more time.
The icon will turn turquoise and that means that the option is activated.
This then concludes our tutorial on how to turn On and Off the option to scan an HTC One M8 for security threats.
