Enable or Disable Location Services on HTC One M8
Edited by Thor, Courtney, Eng
Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to turn on or off the option to allow an HTC One M8 to know your location.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen, holding down until we see two white padlock icons and then swiping upwards.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen.
There will be five various icons lined up at the bottom of the screen. What we need to do now is find the Settings menu, to do this we need to swipe down the Notification panel.
To swipe the Notification panel, press down at the very top of the screen, hold down, and then swipe downwards.
This is going to bring down our Notifications panel.
Note the white cog icon, featured in the top right-hand corner. This is our Settings icon.
Now we will press down on the Settings icon one time.
This will open up our Settings menu.
We will note that there is the word "Settings" written in white in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
Now we are going to scroll down until we get to the "PERSONAL" section.
This section will have the word "PERSONAL" at the top of it, inside of a gray bar.
In this section, we can see we have an option labeled "Location".
To the left of this word, there will be a gray map pin icon.
Press down on "Location" once, this is going to open the Location menu.
The word "Location" will be written in white, in the top left-hand corner of the screen. In this video, we want to show how to turn location services on or off.
To toggle location services we can press down on the icon at the top right-hand side of the screen.
There will be a box with the word "ON" inside of it, written in white letters. There is also a part of the box that is green. Right now this option is turned on, this means that the phone can track our location using GPS.
If we want to turn this option off, press down on the icon one time.
The green will disappear, the icon fades and the colors will be toned gray. We will also note that it now says the word "OFF" in gray letters, instead of "ON" in white letters.
If we want to turn this option back on, press down on the icon another time.
We will be presented with a dialog box, giving us information about this service.
It will say "Improve location accuracy?" at the top. It warns us that having this option turned on will reduce our battery quicker, and that Anonymous location data will occasionally be sent to Google even when no apps are running.
To turn on location services, we have to agree to this by pressing down on the "AGREE" option.
Location services will now be turned on.
This then concludes our tutorial on how to turn on or off the option to allow an HTC One M8 to know your location.
