The reason for this is because some of your emails have been checked thus causing Gmail to move them to your old folder or already checked messages. This is among the many reasons why you are possibly going through this on your current device.

Also check this:

-Check your junk folder to see if any new emails have come into your junk folder

-Check your specific folders that Google splits up from social, standard to promotions for your emails will be spread out among these folders

-Also sync your mail box as there may have been a change to your email box in regards to how many emails you have unchecked on the app

-A network error can also cause the number to be a bit off on the application as well being that with a network issue the application would read the numbers incorrectly

After Update - emails do not update?

On my Galaxy S3, I ran the updates recently. Ever since that time I cannot receive incoming emails.

Problem with emails disappearing from Note3?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note3 that is linked to 2 email accounts - one for work and one for home. Since work has upgraded to Office 365, I had to delete my work email connection and add it again to receive work emails. Since doing that, my work emails all disappear after a few days and I can't find the setting that lets me change it even though my personal emails all remain for longer.

Only want to late current emails and not previous on Samsung Galaxy S5?

I'm the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S5. I just added my first email account and now it's downloaded months of emails that I keep stored on the web. How can I avoid this? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Your email application will allow you to choose how many emails your Samsung Galaxy S5 will download. You cannot set a number of emails; however, you can set time periods of when you want your Galaxy S5 to sync its email application. Depending on the application you use, your instructions will be different -- we'll cover the two main email applications on your Galaxy S5, but the instructions will be similar for other third-party applications, as well.

Gmail

  • Open the Gmail application.
  • Tap the upper right-hand corner menu icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the account.
  • Tap Days of mail to sync.
  • Tap however many days you want to sync.

Email

  • Open the Email application.
  • Tap the upper right-hand corner menu icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Account settings.
  • Tap the account.
  • Tap Sync settings.
  • Tap Period to sync Email.
  • Tap the period of time you want to sync.

That's all you need to do in order to download fewer emails on your Samsung Galaxy S5. These instructions will be very similar to what you will need to do if you use a different email application, as well.
