You're watching VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to add YouTube captions by editing the YouTube autogenerated captions for your video.

Steps

    To edit the captions, we make sure that we are on the https://www.youtube.com home page

    From the home page, we click our profile picture in the top-right corner

    We click "Creator Studio"

    Once "Creator Studio" loads, we click "VIDEO MANAGER" on the left-hand side

    We choose a file that we want to edit by clicking the "Edit" drop-down menu arrow

    We click "Subtitles and CC"

    If we click the "English (Automatic)" subtitles, they will be shown at the right-hand side

    We can go through the captions and edit them as necessary

    Once we've completed our edits, we can rewind the video to the beginning and play it one more time. In this example, the video narrates: "Hi! This is my reviewing demo of the Drinkkler Smart Tea Infuser. This is the item, and it mainly just goes over the main selling points here, on the back of the box; so, I'll just read through those. It contains a tea infuser and a drip tray. It's got simple label instructions on how to use it here, on the back of the box. It shows you putting tea into the container, attaching the lid to the container, attaching the lid to the cup..."

    We can also adjust the length of the two subtitle markers to match the timing of the video

    For instance, we can make it shorter, so that the text will be shown over a shorter period of time if it was the way it was in the video. This will make the text disappear at the particular time.

    We can also go about adding in some new places if we need

    For example, we can shorten one subtitle period to account for a little gap where nothing is said. We can go back and listen to the piece one more time.
