Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to edit who can post on your timeline on Facebook on an HTC One M8.
To begin turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see several icons
It is one of these icons that we now need to access, as we need to open the Applications folder.
To do that, we can use the icon locate at the bottom of the home screen and in the middle
It is a grid made up of white dots.
Press down on that icon, and it will open the "Apps" folder
In this folder, we now need to find the "Facebook" application
It has the "Facebook" icon, which is a blue tile with a white "f" on top. Underneath, it says the word "Facebook".
Press down on the "Facebook" icon, and it will open up the application
We now need to find the Account Settings, and to do that, we need the icon on the far right-hand side of the screen and in the white bar
There are three gray horizontal lines. Press down on that icon to open up a menu.
We want the "Account Settings" option
Next to those words is a gray circle with the white outline of a person's head and shoulders and a small white cog on it. It may be necessary to scroll up or down to locate "Account Settings".
Once it is found, press down on that option to open the next menu
We want the option that says, "Timeline and Tagging", so press down on that
On the "Timeline and Tagging" menu, press on the first option that says, "Who can post on your timeline?" Underneath, it says, "Friends", indicating that is the option currently selected
This will bring us to the "Select Audience" screen, where we can select one of two options under "Who can post on your timeline?" We can choose "Friends" or "Only Me"
In this example, the blue check is currently next to the "Friends" option, indicating that it is selected
We have two choices. We can allow our "Friends" to post to our timeline, or we can allow only ourselves to post things.
If we only want ourselves to be able to post on our timeline, then press down on "Only Me"
It will retreat back to the "Select Audience" screen, and underneath "Who can post on your timeline", it says "Only Me"
The timeline is now locked for our friends, and they cannot post on it. Only we can.
To change that option, press down on the first section again
If it does not seem to respond when you press, it might be due to a glitch. This always happens with the first option in every menu. We can press down on it, and the option will turn blue. However, nothing happens.
In this case, what we need to do is press the back arrow, which is the curved arrow located at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen
As soon as we press that, we'll see the screen try to go back, but it will not actually leave the current menu
Now, we can press down on the first option
It will then allow us to enter the "Select Audience" screen
Therefore, remember there might be a slight glitch, and it is only with the first option on the menu. Follow the advice we've just provided to get around it.
We can now press down on "Friends", and our "Friends" will be able to post on our timeline as well
Now, if we want to go back into that option, it will not let us
We will have to press the back arrow at the bottom left
Then we can press on the top option to open the "Select Audience" screen
This concludes our tutorial on how to edit who can post on our timeline in Facebook on an HTC One M8
