Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to edit the time settings in Daydreams using an HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and hold until two padlock icons appear at the bottom.
Then swipe up.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see several icons.
We now need to find the Settings menu, which we can reach from the notifications panel.
Press at the top of the screen and swipe down to open the notifications panel.
We want to tap on the icon at the top right-hand corner of the notifications panel screen.
It is a white cog, and pressing down on this icon will open the 'Settings' menu.
It has the word 'Settings' at the top left-hand corner.
Let's scroll down until we get to the 'PHONE' section.
There is a gray bar, and in the gray bar at the far left side of the screen it says 'PHONE'.
Directly beneath the gray bar, it says 'Display & gestures', and this is the section that we want.
The icon next to these words is an image of a phone. Press down this to open the 'Display & gestures' menu.
We are looking for 'Daydream', which can be found at the end of the 'DISPLAY' section.
What we want to do in this video is demonstrate how to edit when the HTC One M8 daydreams, or when it chooses to use this function.
Let's press down on 'Daydream' and it is going to open up some options for us.
Tap on the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen, in the black area.
There are three small white squares in a vertical line. This is the menu icon.
This will open up the one option available which says, 'When to daydream'.
Press down on that. This will bring up a window of options for this setting.
For 'When to daydream', we can choose, 'While docked', 'While charging', or 'Either'.
The phone in this demonstration is currently set to 'While docked', and this means while it is connected via USB to another device. We can change this option to 'While charging' or 'Either'. This can only be done when the HTC One M8 is actually connected to a power socket or to another device because it does take up a lot of battery. The daydream function is limited, and can be used only when another power supply is actually recharging the battery due to the drain on the battery caused by the feature.
Choose the option desired by tapping on the circle on the right side of the screen across from it.
We are going to press down on 'Either' because we are happy for it to daydream in either situation.
After making a selection, it will take us out of the menu, but we can press down on the three squares at the top right corner to look at the daydream settings again.
Then press on 'When to daydream'.
The next window will show that the option 'Either' has been selected.
This concludes our tutorial on how to edit when an HTC One M8 daydreams.
