You're watching VisiHow. In this video, we're going to demonstrate how to set up hosting web site with the domain name registered on GoDaddy with a separate hosting company called DreamHost.
Then, log into your Godaddy account by clicking "Sign In" in the top-right corner of the window.
Enter your ID and password and click the green "SIGN IN" button.
In this tutorial, the domain name is "xonlo.com".
Click the blue "LOGIN" button in the upper-right corner of the window.
Enter your email address and password and click "Sign In".
Once logged in, click "Manage Domains".
It's in the toolbox on the left-hand side of the window.
Then, click "Add Hosting to a Domain / Sub-Domain" at the top of the page that opens.
Type the domain name into the "Domain to host" text box.
It's "xonlo.com" in this video. Below the text box, you will see some options such as "Add WWW" or "Remove WWW".
For this tutorial, let's click "Add WWW".
This will add "www." to the domain name. This is the default setting.
Next, click "Username" with the "Create a New User" setting in the drop-down menu above.
Type the user name.
In this video, it's "xonloadmin".
Keep the default "PHP mode" setting.
Keep the other options at their default settings.
At the bottom, click "Fully host this domain".
DreamHost will give you some name servers to add to your GoDaddy account. In this case, there are three name servers.
Highlight the first name server and press "Ctrl" + "C" to copy it into the buffer.
Switch to the GoDaddy tab.
You may want to copy the name servers over to the GoDaddy account.
Click "Manage" for your selected domain name.
Then, click "Manage" under the "Nameservers" heading.
In the pop-up window, check "Custom" under "SETUP TYPE".
Next, click the green "ADD NAMESERVER" button at the bottom of this window.
Press "Ctrl" + "V" to Paste the first name server into the first text box.
Add two more name servers by clicking "ADD NAMESERVER" two more times.
They are in numerical order in this video: "NS1.DREAMHOST.COM", "NS2.DREAMHOST.COM", and "NS3.DREAMHOST.COM").
Then, click "OK" at the bottom of the window.
In the next window, click on "SAVE".
The process may take a few moments to be completed.
That is how you change your domain name servers on GoDaddy to use a separate DNS service. In another video, we'll show how to perform a "One-Click" WordPress installation from DreamHost. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the space below. Thank you for watching VisiHow!
