Does Motrin on an empty stomach cause uncontrollable vomiting?
Motrin or ibuprofen is categorized as a non-steroidal inflammatory drug which is never advised to be taken on empty stomach as it may cause stomach upset or gastritis.
This is recommended to be taken orally with food to avoid irritation of the stomach lining or other allergies and side-effects such as fever, nausea, or vomiting; to name a few.
Long-term intake of Motrin on an empty stomach can trigger gastrointestinal bleeding but this is considerably rare. In fact, the use of Motrin as pain relief for dysmenorrhea or rheumatoid arthritis is deemed to be safer and with fewer noted side-effects than taking aspirin.
