Difference between a SIM card and memory card?

I am returning a Galaxy S4 Active and was told to remove the memory/SIM cards. Is there a difference between a SIM card and memory card?

A SIM card is what connects you to the network you are on. The memory card or SD card is what stores the internal phone data such as contacts or application. Two separate cards located in the back of your device. You can see in this YouTube Tutorial exactly where they are located. There are only so many chips you can remove from the back of a phone so do not worry as you will get the correct ones when you begin the removal process.

I know my cell has a microSD, but where is the SIM card? LG-VN251?

Can I use a different carrier other than Verizon? Can I insert a SIM card from another carrier in this cell or is it too old?
