You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we're going to demonstrate how to show "Delete" instead of "Archive" for an email message in the Mail application on the iPhone 6s Plus.
From the home screen, tap on "Settings".
Now, scroll down until you reach "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
Tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
Tap on on the email account.
In this case, let's tap on the Gmail account.
Tap on "Advanced" at the very bottom of the screen.
You will see "Deleted Mailbox" and "Archive Mailbox" under "MOVE DISCARDED MESSAGES INTO". The button can only have either "Archive" or "Delete" as one of its actions. This will move email messages to the appropriate place.
To see "Delete" for messages, check "Deleted Mailbox".
It's important at this point to tap the "Account" back arrow.
It's in the top-left corner.
Tap on "Done".
This will save the setting for the selected account.
Tap Mail to go to the application with email messages.
Swipe left on a message that you want to delete.
You can tap on the "Trash" button to delete the message.
Alternatively, tap on a message.
Inside the message, there will be a trash can icon at the bottom in the center of the screen.
Tap the trash can icon.
This will delete the message.
That was how to delete a message instead of archiving it on the Mail app on the iPhone 6s Plus. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the space below. Thank you for watching VisiHow!
