Dating a woman who is going through a divorce. She has 2 small children, dealing with a narcissistic ex?
I met this woman online. She has been separated from her ex for about 2 years. They live in separate residences and share custody of 2 small children. . . From the beginning, we hit it off having really good to great dates and we have a lot of similar interests, everything sounded pretty good. Well as the relationship has progressed (we have been dating now for almost 6 months) some things have come up that has given me cause for concern, some of them are, 1) I have not met the children yet, she says its due to the fact that they're in the middle of the divorce and she does not want to give her ex any ammunition during the divorce proceedings, although she constantly shares photos of them with me and lets me know what's going on in their life . 2) In the beginning, when the divorce was in the medium stage she would talk about future plans from time to time, but now that the reality that her life is about to change for real she talks more about her and not about us. 3) We communicate everyday.. 4) The chemistry between us is very strong.. 5) Her emotions run very hot and somewhat hot.. 6) I'm pretty sure she is only seeing me so I do not think another person is in the picture.. 7) She was married for 15 years, a very abusive and dominating and she said that he was diagnosed as being a "narcissist". 8) She is 43 years old. 9) I'm 55 years old. I'm trying to understand what I am dealing with and how to proceed. I like her and would like to see where the relationship can go. Thank You for your time. I'm not sure you have any situations that involve a narcissist ex, children and some of the dynamics I mentioned. I have tried: For now I am being patient, dating her and trying to make sense of what is going on, but I am confused. I think it was caused by: I think she might be overwhelmed by everything and fact of the reality that her life is about to change has her somewhat rattled.
