    Turn the phone on by pressing the power button on the right side of the phone.

    Tap the Microsoft Office tile.
    The tile appears as a white 3D square on an orange background. If the Office tile is not pinned to the home screen it can be found in the App menu, which can be accessed by swiping from right to left.

    Tap the plus icon at the bottom of the screen to create a new document.

    Tap "Outline" under "Word templates" to create a new outline document.
    This will open a new document with a sample outline structure which can all be edited.

    Tap and hold the black circle beneath the cursor to move the cursor.
    Move the cursor anywhere in the document to begin editing.

    Tap twice on a word to select the entire word.
    There will now be two black circles, one on each end of the highlighted section. Use the two circles to select more or less text. Drag the circles down or up to select multiple lines of text.

    Tap the backspace key on the keyboard to delete the highlighted text.
    The backspace key is a box with X in it, located on the right side of the keyboard.

    Type new text once the sample text has been deleted.

    Tap the enter key on the keyboard to start a new line.
    The enter key is a black arrow pointing left, located on the right side of the keyboard. Creating a new line while in an ordered or unordered list will automatically add a new list item.

    To add a comment to a selection of text, highlight the text to add a comment to and tap the comment icon at the bottom of the screen, left of the middle.
    The comment icon appears as a speech bubble with a plus sign in it, within a black circle. Type the comment, then tap the body of the document to close the comment box. Sections of text with a comment will appear as though they are highlighted. In this example, the word "Theme" is highlighted in blue, indicating there is a comment. Tap the highlighted text to view the comment. This can be useful when the document is shared with other users, as they will be able to add comments as well. Each comment will be labeled with the author's name.

    To copy text, highlight the applicable text and tap the copy icon that appears above the highlighted text.

    To paste the copied text, move the cursor to the desired spot and tap the paste icon that appears above the keyboard, on the left side of the screen, after the text has been copied.

    To search for a section in a document, tap the icon at the bottom of the screen, on the left, that appears as a series of 3 bullet points in a black circle.
    This will display a list of the section headers of the document, which allows for quicker navigation through the document.

    Tap a section header to navigate directly to that section.
    If there are comments in a section, there will be a gray speech bubble next to the section header in the list. Tap on the comment indicator next to the section header to navigate to the section and view the comment.

    To search for specific text, tap the search icon at the bottom of the screen, right of the middle.
    The search icon appears as a magnifying glass in a black circle. Type the text to search for and tap the enter key. When notified the search is complete, tap "OK". If there is text in the document that matches the text in the search field, that text will be highlighted and displayed on the screen.

    To format text, highlight the text to be formatted and tap the format icon at the bottom of the screen, on the right.
    The format icon appears as a black paint brush inside a black circle. This will display the formatting tools, such as font formatting (bold, italics, underline, etc.), the option to highlight the selected font, and font color. To apply multiple formats to the same selection of text (ex. bold and red highlight), apply the first format, and repeat this step for any additional formats, as only one format can be applied in this menu at a time.

    The menu icon appears as an ellipsis, or 3 dots. This menu will display the option to "share", "save" and "save as".

    Type a file name in the field under "File name", and select a directory to save the file to in the field under "Save to". Tap "save" at the bottom of the "SAVE DOCUMENT" page to save the document.

    Tap "share" to share the document via Bluetooth, OneNote, email or through OneDrive.
    Sharing the document through OneDrive allows the document to be accessed by whichever accounts have access to the shared folder on OneDrive. To share the file by email, tap the email account in the list. Depending on the type of email account set up on the phone, this may be displayed as "Gmail", "Outlook", "Yahoo", etc. This will open a new email, with the document as an attachment. After inputting the recipient's email and a message, tap the send icon at the bottom of the screen.
