Questions and Answers

Is there any way to set a max number of cells allowed to be typed?

I want to search one column(let's say A) for a specific word(such as "Steuben") If this is true, I do not want another column(let's say cell C, corresponding to the same row) to allow more than 6 characters to be able to be typed. Thanks in Advance. Any hints would be appreciated. I want more of allowing a max for that cell and not so much give me the number of characters already written. I want this to be preventative and not so much to check. I have tried: I have tried using if statements and putting in scientific notations. Another option was to tell the computer the number has to start with 17 and be 9 characters long- But this seems very complicated and I cannot accomplish. I think it was caused by: Beginner with Google sheets and the what I am trying to accomplish seems advanced and has multiple steps instead of just 1
