Could a sudden increase in facial hair cause your hairline to recede?

Ad

Millions, especially men, experience the condition of receding hairline. This is mainly caused by insufficient oxygenation to the hair follicles in the area of the head, damage to hair, malnutrition, diseases, stress, heredity, and hormonal imbalances. Any increase in the growth of facial hair will not affect your hairline in any way. It may seem like facial hair makes your hairline recede because mustaches or beards become more obvious because of hair loss up there. Most men just opt for sporting a bald look while maintaining a thick mustache or beard. For them, this compensates for the loss of hair on their head. It actually helps bring back the confidence they lose because of their receding hairline.

No, this has not been proven by doctors or any other medical profession that if your facial grows fuller that your hairline will recede. Facial hair can grow fuller because of genetics, age or the continued trimming of your facial hair making it grow back fuller than before.

Does picking your hair recede your hairline?

Yes, picking or pulling your hair repetitively can cause a receding hairline for both men and women. If you picked or pulled your hair once or twice, it may not affect your hairline but if you do such habitually then it may cause hair loss. Trichotillomania is a condition that is associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), stress, low self-esteem, and anxiety. This is also an addictive and habit-forming abnormality that an individual performs in a somewhat trance-like state. The person may or may not be aware that he or she is constantly picking on his hair. It might be feeling itchy and there is an urge to pick his hair which could lead to damage or repetitive pulling of hair. People of all ages may experience this medical condition - from children, teenagers, and adults - which warrant immediate medical attention to prevent permanent hair loss.

More facial hair at hairline?

The facial hair that you see at your hairline is usual. In most cases, these are referred to as baby hair, which are actually hair that are just newly growing. It is normal to see them at the hairline because a good portion of your hair actually roots out from that area. In other words, those are not considered to be facial hair anymore and are actually part of your entire head hair.

Regarding Hair-Loss - Electric shave that causes hair not to grow back, yet skin is smooth so doesn't look like ingrown hair. Also, shaving over same spot weeks later could make hair return. Have you heard of this?

Hello, when getting a haircut, a shave too close has LED to hair not growing back out in the areas where my sideburns start, and at the temples (my barber was shaping the area). The areas afterwards would be smooth though, so it did not fit the description of ingrown hairs. Interestingly, the next haircut he'd shave over those spots, and the hair would grow in again. However, the last time he shaped the front temple, it didn't grow back. Since then, I have experienced a speedy receding hairline. Firstly, do you have any idea what is happening when he shaves over a certain spot, and it doesn't grow back, but could grow the next haircut when he goes over it again. Secondly, does it sound like this could contribute to speedy hair receding. I'm 33 and have poor stress management as well. Thank you.
