Hello, you are watching VisiHow and this is a tutorial on how to connect your PS3 to your wireless network connection at home. Before you start, make sure your wireless router is turned on and properly set up. If any other device can connect to your router, then your PlayStation can connect to it too. Once your router is up and running, turn on your PS3 and follow this tutorial.
Find "Settings" on your XMB Menu by scrolling left from "Game".
Next, scroll down to "Network Settings" and press the "X" button to open Network Settings.
To be able to connect to either a wireless or wired internet, you need to have "Internet Connection" enabled.
Press the "X" button on "Internet Connection" and switch between "Enable" and "Disable".
Once "Internet Connection" is enabled, scroll down to "Internet Connection Settings" and press the "X" button.
A prompt will pop up depending on your firmware version; press the "X" button on "OK" to proceed.
Press the right arrow key on "Custom".
There are two methods to connect to the internet: "Easy", and "Custom". If you choose easy, the system will automatically find the best network available at the moment. In this case, we are trying to connect to a specific router which means that we have to choose "Custom" settings.
Next, we have two options:
"Wired Connection" or "Wireless" connection; press the right arrow key on "Wireless".
In "WLAN Settings", we have three options:
"Scan", "Enter Manually" or "Automatic". The best idea is to choose "Scan"; press the right arrow key on "Scan".
The system will scan and display a list of available networks.
Choose the network that you own and press the "X" button to proceed.
On the next screen, you can change the network SSID but it is not mandatory.
Press the right arrow key to proceed.
Next, we have the security settings.
Choose the security type that you have setup on your wireless router and press the right arrow key to proceed.
Input the password into the text box by pressing the "X" button.
Press "Start" once the password has been entered. Press the right arrow key to proceed.
In the "IP Address Settings", you have three options:
"Automatic", "Manual" and "PPPoE"; select "Automatic" and press the right arrow key.
In the next section, choose "Do Not Set" and press the right arrow key because setting up a dynamic host name is not mandatory.
In the "DNS Settings", you can choose "Automatic" or "Manual".
If you router is configured properly, choose "Automatic" and press the right arrow key. If it is not, then press "Manual" followed by the right arrow key. If "Manual" is selected, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider.
Select "Automatic" in the MTU section and press the right arrow key.
Proxy service is used for internet browsing on the PS3, in this case, we will be choosing "Do Not Use".
Press the right arrow key to proceed.
In the UPnP section, press enable and press the right arrow key.
The last section shows you all the settings you have selected.
To change any of the settings, press the left arrow key until you arrive at the setting you want to change. If everything is set up correctly, press the "X" button to apply the settings.
The PS3 is now connected to the wireless router.
Highlight "Test Connection" and press the "X" button to test the connection or press "O" to return to the XMB Menu.
This concludes our tutorial on how to connect your PS3 to your wireless router connection at home.
