Coke and Chlorine Reaction
Edited by David Collins, Eng, Sandre Willams, Maria
This experiment should only be performed under the supervision of a trained professional.
- 2If you do have chlorine disks (instead of powdered granules) you will need to break them up into really fine granules. This process is very tedious and takes a lot longer, which is why we strongly recommend the granule chlorine shock. It is really important to know that the chlorine shock must be in granule form, meaning DO NOT use the disks.Advertisement
- 8The outcome was not what we were looking for. You can notice that using the glass container was much more effective that using the plastic bottle for this experiment. It is also a better idea to use the glass container since the plastic gets very hot during the reaction. We tried pouring directly into the coke bottle instead of the glass container.
