Edited by Freya, VisiHow, Eng, Anonymous
You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we will show you how to edit type and font size in Adobe Illustrator CS6 in Windows 7.
You should have Adobe Illustrator open and a document ready.
For instructions on how to complete these steps, please view our other VisiHow tutorials. In this video, there is imported text in the document.
Highlight the text box by clicking it.
There is the blue frame around the imported text. This means that you are able to edit the text.
When you are trying to edit type, it is recommended that you click "Type Tool".
You can find "Type Tool" in the vertical menu on the left-hand side of your screen. This gives more flexibility.
Now, click and drag the cursor over the text that you need to change.
The text will be highlighted in black.
Next, click "Type" at the top of the window.
Move the cursor to "Font" in the drop-down menu.
An expanded menu will appear with a list of fonts in the alphabetical order. Move the cursor to the very bottom to scroll down.
Click the font that you like.
You can zoom in to see how the text has changed.
If you don't like the look or if the font is too large, you click "Type".
Then move the cursor to "Size" in the drop-down menu.
The expanded menu next to "Size" recommends different options that have the best quality when printed.
You can click "10 pt".
This is the font size to fit the text within the canvas.
Another way to change the font and size is by highlighting the text.
Then, click the "Stroke Weight" drop-down menu in the horizontal toolbar at the top of the window.
You can also click "Opacity".
You can click the "Font" drop-down menu.
You will not have a preview of each font. It will change the style of your text. In order to change the font, you do not need to click the "Type" menu at the top of the window.
You can also click the size drop-down menu on the toolbar to change the size of the font.
You can highlight one word in the text.
Click the "Font Style" drop-down menu.
You will be able to click "Regular" and, for some fonts, "Bold", "Italic", "Light", "Light Italic", and "Bold Italic".
