Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to change the notification sound for sending messages on an HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen, hold down, and then swipe up.
We will see two white padlock icons when the screen is pressed, prompting us to swipe upwards.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen.
There will be five various icons at the bottom of the screen. We need to find the Messages section. to do that we need to press down on the icon featuring a square speech bubble with three horizontal, green lines in the middle. This is our Messages icon.
Press down the on the Messages icon.
This is going to bring up our messages. Now we need to press the icon in the top, right-hand corner to find our settings. We will see there are three small, white squares in a vertical line. This icon is our Settings icon.
Press down on the Settings icon.
This is going to open up a new menu for us.
From here we want to find the option labeled "Settings". This open is located second from the bottom, it will say "Settings" in white writing.
Press down once on the "Settings" option.
Now we will be brought to our Settings.
Now we will press down on the word "Notifications".
This option is listed first, it will say "Notifications" in black writing. This is going to bring up the Notification options.
The first section we can see will say "RECEIVED MESSAGES", however, we want to scroll down and go to "SENT MESSAGES".
After a small bit of scrolling, we will come across a section labeled "SENT MESSAGES" at the top, with our options relating to sending messages underneath of it.
We will have two options for Notification sounds, one labeled "Notification sound (Slot 1)" and the other "Notification sound (Slot 2)". This is because we may have two micro SIM cards inserted into our HTC One M8. We currently only have one inserted in the phone shown, so for this video we will be concentrating on Slot 1. However, this video is compatible with both slots so we can follow the same instructions when interacting with Slot 2.
Next we need to make sure that the option labeled "Play notification sound" is checked.
If it was not checked, we would no longer be able to choose either of the Notification sound options. We will know it is checked when the box to the left of it has a blue check mark inside of it.
Now we will press down on "Notification sound (Slot 1)".
This will bring us to a list of Notification sound options.
We can see that we currently have the "Default notification" sound selected.
We can tell because there is a green circle inside of the outlined circle, featured to the right of each option. While on this screen we can press on the screen and scroll to see more options.
Pressing down on any of these options will let us hear them, it will also place a green circle in the outlined circle located to the right of the option.
This circle is our check-box for this menu screen.
Once we have chosen the option that we like, we are going to press the "Apply" icon at the bottom of the screen inside of a gray bar.
Press down on this once to apply the new Notification sound.
If we wanted to change the Notification sound again, simply press on the "Notification sound (Slot 1)" option again and choose a new one, then press on Apply to finalize the change.
We will note however that the default notification, listed as "Default notification (Lotus)", is the same as the Received Messages sound.
We have just scrolled up from "SENT MESSAGES" section to the "RECEIVED MESSAGES" section and we can see the default notification is Lotus as well. We may want to change this then, or change one of these, so we can actually tell the difference between when a message has been received and when a message has been sent.
This then concludes our tutorial on how to change the notification sound for sending messages on an HTC One M8.
