    Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen to open the Settings menu.

    Scroll down to the "PERSONAL" section of the settings and tap "Personalize".
    The "Personalize" icon is an image of the HTC One M8 with a paintbrush inside it.

    Scroll down to the "SOUND" section of the Personalize settings and tap "Alarm".
    The current alarm tone is displayed beneath "Alarm". In this example, the current tone is "Foxglove". Tapping "Alarm" will open the list of alarm tones available for use.

    Scroll through the list and tap a tone to preview the sound.
    Some of these tones can be very abrasive, which can be a good thing if we have trouble waking up in the morning.

    Select the tone to set as the alarm, and ensure the green circle is located to the right of the selected tone.
    The green circle indicates the tone in use.

    Tap "APPLY" at the bottom of the screen to set the new tone for the alarm.
