I can't recall the PIN code for my Samsung Galaxy S5 Android phone?
I'm locked out but I can unlock it if I enter a PIN code. I don't recall setting one up.
When you set up your Samsung Galaxy S5's fingerprint scanner, you were required to set up an alternative password in the form of either a PIN code or an alphanumeric password to make sure that you could still access your phone if the fingerprint scanner stopped recognizing your fingerprint or simply started to malfunction so you couldn't use it anymore. If you are unable to remember the alternative password you set up, enter the incorrect alternative password up to 20 times. Your phone will then ask you for your Google account information. Enter it; your phone will unlock, allowing you to remove or change the alternative password to something you can remember. If you don't remember your Google account information, go to this Google website to try to recover it. If you are unable to retrieve your Google account information, your phone doesn't ask for the information, or if you never logged into a Google account to begin with, you will need to perform a Factory Reset on your Samsung Galaxy S5 to unlock it. This will unfortunately delete all of your phone's data. To learn how to perform a proper Factory Reset on your Android phone, read through and follow the steps in this great VisiHow how-to article. Once the reset is complete, be sure to log your Samsung Galaxy S5 into a Google account to which you know the information. If you need to sign up for a Google account, you can do so here. In addition, be sure to write down the alternative password you choose to lock your Samsung Galaxy S5 with so you can refer to it in the future if you forget the alternative password again.
