Sweets are undeniably some of the best comfort foods in the world. They give us a unique sense of satisfaction after indulging in them. There are actually a variety of sweets that you can enjoy depending on your mood, craving, preference, budget or even your diet. Of course, you have to remember that the bigger the serving size of sweets you eat, the more calories you gain.

One of the biggest breakthroughs in sweets that has been made are cupcakes. Before, we were limited to chocolates, candies, and cakes. Now, however, the emergence of cupcakes is really evident. In fact, there are already establishments and restaurants that serve cupcakes as main features, and not just a complimentary dessert.

I, for one, am a cupcake enthusiast. I really love indulging myself in the different flavors and varieties of cupcakes, especially when they come in different colors and sizes. They are indeed eye candies for me. However, of all the flavors I have tasted, I always got back to the classic ones that first ignited my affinity for cupcakes - the Red Velvet Cupcake. It looks simple, yet elegant with its vibrant red cupcake color, and creamy, white frosting. Despite the simplicity of its look, it never fails to deliver an awesome cupcake experience. I hope you will also enjoy it as much as I do. Follow the recipe below to bake some for you and your family! Here is how.

    Before mixing all the ingredients, make sure to preheat your oven to 350 degrees F

    You may now prepare your muffin pans lined with cupcake papers

    Sift the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder

    Once sifted, mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl

    In a separate bowl, combine all the wet ingredients (oil, buttermilk, eggs, vinegar, and vanilla)

    Beat them all together gently using a hand-held electric mixer.

    Add first 1/3 of sifted dry ingredients to the batter until thoroughly combined

    Then, continue adding the rest of the dry ingredients gradually. Mix everything until the consistency becomes smooth.

    Scoop the batter into each cupcake paper

    Fill each to about 2/3 full. Never fill it too much, so as to give it enough space to rise.

    Whip the cream cheese together with the vanilla and butter until the mixture becomes smooth
