By elevating their self-esteem through motivational groups and strengthen their positive self talk and communication skills.
It has been a difficult journey towards finding effective treatments and prevention solutions for substance abusers. Through research, we now have a better understanding of this behavior. Studies have made it clear that drug education and prevention aimed at children and adolescents offers the best chance to curb abuse nationally.

  4. 4
    Building a healthy relationship.
This allows you to recognize client's normal and abnormal behaviors, such as thoughts disorders, suicide, delusions, and hallucinations. In assistance with preventing Suicide tendencies, it is a very important element of dealing with the bodies' respiratory system.

  5. 5
At risk children often suffer from substance abuse, and are substance dependent.
Depending on the length of time client has abuse drugs his/her body organs may be severely damaged. This resulting in possible respiratory failure; chest pains, migraines , tingling feelings or numbness in the tips of the fingers, which are all signs that enough oxygen is not entering the blood stream.

    CPR is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
It plays a very important part with dealing with the body. Yes, its purpose is to bring oxygen to the victim's lungs and keep blood circulating so the person doesn't suffer from permanent brain damage. Permanent damage to the brain can begin in less than four minutes of very low to no oxygen and death can follow shortly after.

  7. 7
If victim is showing signs of trouble breathing; if choking or falls unconscious you need to first check for signs of life, then have someone call 911.
(Performing early CPR can keep vital organs supplied with blood containing oxygen ) ask the person if they are "OK" get permission to help if they are able to respond but if they appear to be unconscious you are protected by Law to help save their life. Begin by giving 2 rescue breaths. Rescue breaths are 1 breath about every 3 seconds. Check to see if oxygen goes in by the chest rising. If oxygen goes in and still no response begin CPR by given 30 chest compressions. Compress the chest down by placing your hand clasped together in the center of the chest compressing straight down 1 to 1 ½ for adults, 1 to ½ for infants and some children. Continue the process checking for signs every 2 minutes (which is a cycle of five) but do not check for more than 10 seconds, continue until victim begins to breathe on their own or a rescue squad arrives and are ready to take over.

  8. 8
If the victim is choking give abdominal thrust:
positioning your fist above the navel. If victim can't cough, speak or breathe: give back blows and abdominal thrust until choking item is discarded.

Dealing with at risk children it is most often that the child has suffered from substance abuse and may be dependent.
Depending on the length of time abusing drugs client body organs may be severely damaged and they may be suffering from respiratory failure associated with chronic chest pain. Any level of stress may put them in cardiac arrest at any given time. The thought of putting them on mood stabilizer is illogical. Working with the mind is conducive to working the memory through training programs even with client's attention deficits. It is imperative that we find ways to educate them and allow them to fill their emptiness with healthier choices instead of becoming their society accepted drug dealer.

Drugs affect the body and interfere with effective communication.
Clients who have a drug abuse history may have long term health problems from drug to drug use. Cocaine damages the heart, blood vessels, lungs and brain while ecstasy damages the heart, jaw, stomach and brain. Though some of the parts of the body are the same, the damage can be different. Methamphetamine increases heart rate and blood pressure, causes irregular heartbeat, decreases appetite often to the point of anorexia and causes problems with breathing, Heroin severely slows breathing and heart rate, often to the point of death. It is extremely addictive and can lead to fatal overdose and miscarriage. In addition to the possible health effects, heroin users often share needles which spread hepatitis and HIV. People that are addicted and use drugs often have collapsed veins and infections in the lining of the heart, among other things. Medications may cause shortness of breath, pain when breathing, and/or chest pain, heart attack; stroke. Drug may affect how your kidneys work. Shortness of breath and fatigue can interfere with your ability to eat a balanced diet. Drugs can interfere with other drugs by blocking their action, or reducing their designed affect Medicine for asthma or other breathing problems may combine and cause intoxication in the blood and can result in a drug overdose. Logically if a child is suffering from these substances it is nonsensical to give them medication on top of the present drug issues, which causes them to find negative solutions of escape. We need to find ways to motivate them to substitute the emptiness with knowledge, love, encouragements and high self-esteem. By elevation of how they view themselves. Some people have situational self-esteem issues which allow them to view themselves highly at one moment (around friends) then low the next (at home alone). Ways we can help elevate their view is by assisting them in getting sober through group functions and support. Being able to identify their triggers that lows self-esteem by personalize stressful events and facing fears. Stop and take notice; pay attention to the familiarity of the impulse. Acknowledge reactions; actively do something with the awareness rather than passively note it. Develop skills of self control through self talk.

CPR trainers are not only taught how to sustain life but also taught skills that help minimize the consequences of injuries and how to identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions, recognize emergencies and handle irrational situation that requires knowledge of techniques needed in calming a person down by:

    1. seeking solutions to each specific problem.
    2. Teach new coping skills to help the client to become better organized and skilled.
    3. Use basic listening techniques. To explore client's feelings in assurance that the client is comfortable with them, the ability to write or discuss a plan that can be utilize during their next episode and to avoid the need for any type of sedative medication for temporary satisfaction or escape.

Example: A resident has a history of smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol. She has been attending groups on substance abuse which teaches her the side effects and dangers. The group also comes up with ways to get her sober and maintain soberness, through encouragements and verbal praises when the resident impulsive behaviors has decreased as she implements more time into herself {getting hair and nails done, going shopping} leading groups and feeling positive about herself growth. She was getting prepared to be reunited with her family and was very excited to inform them of her success since the 7 month they last seen her. When she received a message that a family member became sick and the visit was cancel the resident became very agitated, fighting and cursing daily. Displaying aggression daily and requiring breathing treatment throughout the day. She attempted to run away time after time. She would break into people's cars on campus that she assumed smoked. She fought the staff, was very verbal abusive calling people names and threatening to hit them. She ran about 3 in the morning and flagged down a truck driver and was missing for 4 days. A police report was filed and while on her adventure the resident had sex with multiple people besides the truck driver and she got highly intoxicated with whomever she could. After being physically abused for not doing a drug that could have killed her (client recognized the drug from former groups and knew the dangers of cocaine) the client called back to the campus telling a counselor where she was and requested for someone to pick her up. She was placed in the hospital for 24 hours for random test. She returned to campus feeling embarrassed and ashamed. The staff's worked with her daily, no drugs were given through her night sweats, stomach cramping, aggression, and late night screams of agony. A first aid CPR trained person remained with her at all times, to encourage her out of her suicide attempts and to protect her from hazardous situations. She was pushed to gain back what she lost in less than a week. With consistent encouragements, time and persuasion client worked diligently everyday. 9 months later she graduated from the program and is now attending Liberty University, living on her own and working. Staff stood by and helped client acknowledge the strength in herself she didn't know existed.

I learned to address all situations asking myself a question first (what am I feeling) to assure level headed approaches and decisions, whether it's with my own children, husband or in the community. I am able to recognize certain behaviors of people crying out for help discursively or in a roundabout way. It is important to have self-awareness of your personal emotion before making effective decisions and being able to communicate with people without appearing judgmental. Not being able to do so you can be fuel to a potential fire.

The knowledge of knowing how and when to perform CPR helps at home as well as in the community. Being able to evaluate a situation where my skills need to be utilized. Having these skills keeps me more alert, I'm able to assist without any hesitation because I'm comfortable with my skills and assertive at all times. If I see someone holding their chest (my family or a stranger), I know to immediately help them to a seated position if they're standing up, or possibly lay them down if they go limp. Have someone call 911 inform them that this person may be having a heart attack. I then tell a potential heart attack victim "I am CPR trained (if it's a stranger) and I would like to help". Wait for their answer (if they are able to answer) if they are unable to answer by Law you are allowed to perform in their benefit. I would apply positive communication skills using a calm voice tone, assuring them everything are going to be alright, ask vital questions about their health and close family member I can contact so I could inform paramedics when they arrive. Position myself in close proximity just in case they fall unconscious and need resuscitation. In that case I would then have to give the client two breaths, if the chest doesn't rise and an AED (Automated External Defibrillation) is not available I then give 30 chest compressions. Then check for signs of life, if no signs of life I continue CPR until:

Counseling with CPR skills is effective in aiding one's ability to communicate and identify hazardous conditions, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care without the need of harmful medications such as: Lutuda, seroquel, concerta, Wellbutrin, or abilify.

Counseling is a social setting problem solving technique. Counselors don't give you specific advice like patient DR. do. They serve as skilled listeners who help client clarify issues; discover true wishes and feelings with effective problem solving also with direct advice or non-directive guidance which helps the client make rational decisions without medication or mood stabilizers.

The use of medication on our youths, especially if they are seeking help from substance abuse is dangerous and life threatening. If a person feels sad, tired, or anxious for a period of time now, it is understandable if they want to feel better right away immediate gratification. It may seem to them that everything would be better if they just found the right medication or drug to ease their mind. The best form of help may be counseling or even a combination of counseling and medication, or some other resource or service but most importantly the last result should be medication. Research has shown that superior results are often achieved in other ways for a variety of concerns. One thing we do know: turning to alcohol or drugs to feel better often makes situations dramatically worse. If a prescription drug is abide it can cause a CDI (Combined Drug Intoxication). If the client is withheld from getting street drug they may attempt to use prescribed drugs as a substitute high. It has been my experience that many clients face significant adjustment issues during their school years; middle, high school and college. Sometimes these adjustment situations are quite intense, involving a significant degree of stress, depression, or anxiety. They often have attempted to gravitate towards substances as a form of comfort during these times. Better answers may, however, involve reducing stress, being more assertive with your family, minimizing conflict, developing better study skills and habits, and so on. Such changes can take a little time, but not forever. When changes like these are made, they tend to stick. Too often children may take a medication but undertake no other changes and, when this occurs, there is a good possibility that problems will return when the medication is discontinued and sometimes even before that.

Counseling with first aid, CPR can help identify and resolve, through effective counseling, an ongoing mental / emotional block or conflict previously diagnosed by a physician, but has not responded to conventional drug / psychotherapy, and may be preventing you from reaching your goals, and restore a well, balanced state of mind-body wellness. Counseling is the art of helping people. Professional Counselors are individuals trained to share knowledge and skills with those who are struggling emotionally. Counselors can help people with personal, social, career and educational development.

Designed to provide treatment in a safe and drug free environment where a former drug or alcohol abuser can be educated about addiction and how to get clean and stay clean. Although each drug rehab program may be different in their techniques and methods, all drug rehabilitation programs have the same motivating factor driving them, The purpose of counseling is to help clients achieve their personal goals, and gain greater insight into their lives. One hopes that by the end of this process one will be more satisfied with his or her life. Counseling is NOT a process where the counselor tells the client what he or she should do or decides choices for the client to make. Rather it is an opportunity for the client to obtain a greater understanding of the person that he/ she is, with the help of the counselor.

There should always be some space for the mind to feel comfortable. Persons who are suffering from diabetes should seek advice from a physician. Can Psychological Wellness Affect a Person's Physical Health?

Psychological wellness and physical health should always be together. If a person has a poor mind, this could have a negative impact on the body. Various researches state that individuals who are suffering from mental problems lack the effort to take care of their own body. This could lead to several complications and diseases. In the same manner, if one is consistently doing mental workouts, then the hippocampus, front lobes and other delicate areas of the brain can perform effectively. This works as a catalyst for the body to function properly.

Connection Between the Mind and the Body

There is a certain relationship or connection between the mind and body. Scientists name this link as immune cutaneous endocrine. It is a system which includes the neurological functions, the skin or the subcutaneous and the body's defense mechanisms. All these body parts "communicate" with each other. The whole program is like a wide WiFi marketing service. These parts are "listening" and will eventually "react" when the right time comes.

Important Things to Know

  1. 1
The mind can only take a certain level of stress, and too much of these stressors will only change the whole program and cause the brain to become unstable.
Do not let this happen. The minute a person experiences something wrong he should instantly stop all his strenuous activities and rest. Those who are suffering from a lot of pain and stress have the propensity to go through a depressive mental state. This is one of the worst levels because of the risk that the sufferer will never cope with the situation.

  2. 2
Mental depressive disorders, experts say, have a negative effect on the character of a person.
These people can eventually become loners. When it comes to the looks, the victim looks older than individuals of the same age.
