Have you ever dreamed of going to these places? No worries, all you have to do is to apply for a U.S passport. Applying for a passport isn't that difficult as long as you meet the requirements.

There are different ways of applying. Things are different, depending on whether you are a first time applicant, a return visitor or a minor under the age of 16.

In-Person Applications

You must apply in person if:

Steps to Submit a U.S Passport Application for First Time Applicant

    Fill out the form DS-11.

    1. An applicant for a passport should never sign the application unless you were asked to do so by an official.
    2. An applicant must provide the officials their SSN (Social Security Number). Failure to do all of these things may result in delays or even in getting you a denial of your application.
    3. Submit your DS-11 form. You must submit your DS-11 form in person at any Passport Agency. NOTE: For minors under the age of 16, there are special requirements to be submitted.

    Submit evidence of your U.S.
    citizenship.  
    1. Primary evidence would include one of the following:  
      1. Birth certificate issued by the city or state.
      2. Citizenship certificate.
      3. Certificate of naturalization.

    Bring identification, like a valid driver's license or government ID.

    Submit a xerox copy of your identification paper(s) presented.
    Xerox must be on a plain white 8 1/2 x 11 paper showing the back and front of your ID.

    Pay the required fees.

    Submit one photo for your passport.
    To avoid denials, make sure that your photo meets all the standard requirements.

Steps to Submit a U.S Passport Application for Minors

    Same as the first one, fill out and complete the DS-11 form.

    Then submit the DS-11 form with a parent/guardian and the minor.

    Also submit evidence of the minor's U.S citizenship.

    Evidence would include one of the following:  
    1. Certified birth certificate of the child with the name of the parents on it.
    2. Adoption decree with the name of the adopting parents.
    3. Certified foreign birth certificate of the child with the name of the parents on it.
