Samsung Galaxy S5. Seems to boot, but screen is black and unresponsive?

My S5 has gone dark. I have done all the "remove battery, and/or remove SD and SIM card," etc... The phone turns on... the home and back button light up... and the notification light in the top left goes on, and it makes normal sounds. But I cannot get anything to see or any response when using the screen. I have seen advice such as "go to settings"... that won't work... I can't see it... I have tried booting to safe mode... but, safe or not, I can't see anything.

I dropped my Galaxy S5 active. Now the screen is black, no image, however the phone appears to work in every other way. I can hear incoming calls; texts etc., I just cannot see anything. Is there a way to reset the screen?

I dropped my Galaxy S5 active. Now the screen is black, no image, however the phone appears to work in every other way. I can hear incoming calls; texts etc., I just cannot see anything. Is there a way to reset the screen? Apparently my questions was too short? So now I am typing to add length to the question to test this. Is it an anomaly? Or is there really a minimum amount of characters required to be considered a legitimate question?
