    First, click "Colors" on the horizontal menu at the top of the screen.
    If "Toolbox" covers it, then move it.

    Then, click "Brightness-Contrast..." in the menu.
    A dialogue box will appear so that you can adjust your settings.

    You can click the "Preset" drop-down menu.
    If you have not saved any presets, this menu will be empty.

    You can save a preset by clicking on the plus symbol next to the "Presets" drop-down menu.

    Next, you can adjust "Brightness" and "Contrast".
    You can do that by clicking and dragging the scrollers left or right.

    You can also type a number into the text boxes on the right-hand side of each scroller.

    Click "Edit these Settings as Levels" to bring up the "Levels" pop-up window.
    "Brightness-Contrast" is a more basic version of the changes that you can make with "Levels". "Levels" gives you much more control over the editing process. For assistance using "Levels" in GIMP, please view our other tutorials.
