Phone will take you straight to the "New Contact" page, where you can fill in the name and other contact details.
In this video, "Mike Holmes" is typed into the "First name" input field.

You can also type text into all of the custom fields.
This includes "First name" "Last name", phone number, email address, etc.
You can set a custom ringtone, vibration, and text tone.
You can also add some additional information.
This includes a URL, addresses, birthday date, related names, social profiles, instant message names, and any other notes you would like to add.

Find the phone number and tap on the information icon.
It is to the right of the phone number.
