You're watching VisiHow. Today, I'm going to show you how to add friends to the MapMyRun application on the iPhone 6.
To begin, we need to unlock the phone by pressing the Lock button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Alternatively, we can press the Home button at the bottom of the screen to unlock the phone as well.
Swipe to the right, and we can enter a Passcode, or simply use the fingerprint scanner by pressing a finger to the Home button.
Find the MapMyRun icon, which is blue and white with a man running inside of a white circle.
Tap on it once to open the application.
It automatically takes us to the map screen, where we can begin recording our workouts.
However, we need to tap on the icon with three horizontal lines at the top left corner.
On the menu that appears, scroll down and tap on "Friends", which is indicated by two head and shoulders icons.
We don't have any friends added at the moment, or they would be listed on this screen.
To add a friend, tap on the "+" in the top right-hand corner.
We have the option to add suggested friends or friends by invitation.
It is currently set to "Suggested".
Tap on "Invite", and we'll see that we can invite friends via "Facebook", "Twitter", "SMS" or "Email".
Tap on "Suggested" at the top.
However, we don't have any suggested friends at the moment. This will usually involve friends who also use MapMyRun via Facebook, for example, if we are signed in to Facebook.
Tap in the Search bar at the top of the screen to search for friends by name.
Type in a name using the keyboard.
Scroll down through the list that comes up to find friends, and tap "Add" on the right side of the screen to add friends.
To invite friends, first tap on "Invite" at the top of the screen.
We can tap on "Facebook" at the top to invite via Facebook.
This will take us to the Facebook application, where it will prompt us to write a post with a link to MapMyRun.
We can select who to send the post to, as well as type in a message if desired.
Then tap on "Post" in the top right-hand corner, and it will post to our Facebook timeline.
Then it will take us back to the MapMyRun app.
We can do the same on Twitter, so let's tap on that.
We need access to Twitter from the MapMyRun app in order to send a tweet about it, which we don't have on this phone. We only have access to Facebook, but this can be changed in the settings.
We can also send an "SMS" message by tapping on that option.
It will start to compose a text message that includes a sentence about MapMyRun with a link as well.
We can add any desired contacts just like we would if we were sending a normal SMS message.
Finally, we have "Email", where it composes an email in the same way.
Simply add an email address at the top.
Then press "Send" at the top right corner.
From the "Find Friends" screen, tap on "Friends" at the top left-hand corner.
Next, press the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the "Friends" screen.
Tap on "Record a Workout" at the top of the menu.
This will return us to the map screen where we started.

Questions and Answers
When I type my friend's name it won't show her?
There is so many Nicoles and I can't find her
You will need to contact your friend to find her user name. The user name may be not even a name. You can register on MapMyRun with any name or log in with Facebook, where the application will use Facebook details. For more information on how to edit one's user name, please view our tutorial on how to edit profile data in MapMyRun, where steps 6 and 7 clearly demonstrate that. Therefore, for example, a user name for John Smith can be something like jsmith11 if he desires to.
You can also give your own details to your friend so that she can add you. You can find your name in step 6 of our tutorial on how to view your profile.
