Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to add a free style tile to the home screen of a Microsoft Lumia 535 when using the Cool Tiles application.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone
Once the phone is activated, swipe the lock screen up to go to the home screen
On the home screen, locate the Cool Tiles tile
It has a purple background with an image of a phone with different colored squares on it. If Cool Tiles has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find it in the Apps menu.
Once Cool Tiles has been located, press on it to enter the application
From the "Tiles 8.1" home page, swipe left across the screen to get to "Tiles." At the top left it says, "tap + to add a free style tile." A unique style of tile can be created from this screen
Press the white plus sign in the middle at the bottom of the screen
Now, press the second icon from the right at the bottom of the screen
It is a white circle with an image of a flower inside. It says "app" underneath.
The next screen all of the applications currently installed on the phone
Swipe up and down to scroll through them all. An application that is already pinned to the home screen can be chosen as well as an application that has not been pinned.
Press down on an application to make a tile for that app
Next, choose at which corner of the tile the application icon will be
It is currently located at the bottom right.
To change its location, use the buttons across the top of the tile, showing a tiny circle in different positions
It can also be put right in the middle of the tile.
Press on the bar below the tile to rotate the image
The bar is in between two circling arrows.
To adjust the color brightness of the image, use the slider bar located to the left of the tile
Tapping toward the bottom darkens the image, while tapping closer to the top lightens it.
The slider bar on the right side of the tile makes the image bigger or smaller
The more the bar is increased, the larger the image.
The next option is transparency, which can be adjusted by tapping on the check box next to "transparent" at the top of the screen
This will make the tile background transparent. Even if the transparency option is selected, the tile will only be transparent if there is a background image on the home screen.
Press down on the "background" icon, the second option from the left
It is a white circle with a picture of a mountain inside it.
Tap to select a background from selected photos or colors available
If desired, add a new image from the phone's photo albums by pressing on the white plus sign at the bottom of the screen
To create different sections into one image, press on the second icon at the bottom of the screen
It is an image of four squares grouped together. There is a separate video on how to do this on this website, so search for that to get more information.
Press the white arrow at the bottom left of the screen to go back
To delete any changes made thus far, press the trash can icon at the far right at the bottom of the screen
To save the changes and pin the tile to the home screen, click on the "pin" icon, the first one at the bottom of the screen
It has an image of a thumbtack inside the white circle.
The tile now appears on the home screen
Although the tile was chosen to be transparent, it now shows up with a light blue background because there is no background image on the home screen. There is also a video on this website on how to add a background image to the home screen, so do a search to learn how to do that.
