Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to add, delete, and edit quick text in the Messages section of the HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and hold down until the two lock icons appear at the bottom.
Then swipe up, and this will allow us to unlock the phone. Once the phone is unlocked, we will see the home screen. At the bottom are several different icons.
We need to find the Messages icon, which is the second one from the left.
It is a white speech box with three horizontal lines inside.
Press down on the Messages icon, and it is going to allow us to enter our messages.
In this video, we want to demonstrate how to add, delete, and edit quick text in a message. Therefore, we need to find a message.
Press down on any message thread to enter the message.
Now, we need to press the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
There are three small white squares in a vertical line. Pressing down on this icon will bring up a menu.
We want to choose the "Quick text" option, which is the third option from the top.
Now, we can see all of the "Quick text" options listed.
There are several pre-written sentences that we can use to quickly insert into our messages. We can also add new ones, delete some, and edit them. The ones on the current list are very impersonal and generic sentences. They don't really express any personality, and they only really apply to more general situations. We can create our own for more specific, personal things, such as using people's names or in certain situations.
To do this, we need to first press the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
It is three small white squares in a vertical line.
This will bring up the option to "Add", "Delete", or "Edit".
We're going to press down on the word "Add".
Then it's going to allow us to add a new quick text message, or new pre-written sentence.
Add a message using the keyboard.
When satisfied with the message, press the checkmark on the right.
This will save the quick text message.
We need to get out of the Add section by pressing the curved arrow at the bottom of the screen to go back.
Now, if we scroll down to the bottom, we should see the quick text message we've just added.
Pressing down on the quick text will add it to our message.
We can send the message in group to some friends. We don't need to write it, but can just quickly go to the quick text section, tap to add a message, and it's done.
We can go back to the menu of options by pressing the three white squares again at the top right corner.
Press down on "Quick text" again.
In the "Quick text" section, press down again on the three white squares in the top right-hand corner.
Now, let's press "Edit".
This will add icons on the far right side of the screen, across from each of the quick text messages. Each icon looks like a piece of paper with a pen inside.
Press on one of the icons to bring up a text box at the bottom.
The sentence will be inside the text box, and it's going to allow us to edit it.
Pressing down on the text box will bring up the keypad, and we can edit the message.
Once we have edited it successfully, press the checkmark on the right side of the text box.
To get out of the Edit section, press the curved arrow at the bottom left corner of the screen to go back.
Now to delete a message, once again, press down on the three white squares at the top right corner.
Then press "Delete".
This will bring up the option to delete some of the sentences.
We can delete multiple sentences by pressing down on the boxes on the right side of the screen.
Pressing down on a box will put an "x" inside it.
After making selections, next to the word "Delete" at the bottom right of the screen will be the number of choices chosen to be deleted.
For this demonstration, we have selected four.
Once we have chosen the ones we want to delete, we can press the "Delete" button at the bottom.
It is going to ask us to confirm the choice by pressing "OK".
Now any messages chosen are deleted.
This concludes our tutorial on how to add, delete, and edit quick text in the Messages section of the HTC One M8.

How do I direct placement of Quick Text?
Hello;. . I am using an HTC ONE M9. When I enter text by hand (or use a signature in my message), the Quick text always places after the entered text or after the signature. It does NOT enter in the spot of the cursor (which is where I want the quick text to be placed. It automatically places it at the end of the entire message. Again, I would like to have the quick text enter at thew spot of the cursor automatically. Can you help? Is there something that needs to be changed in the settings for quick text placement? Please reply to Thank You - Ron R.. I have tried: Have not changed any sett5ings. I have modified and added several quick text messages. When I click the quick text that I want to use, it places at the complete wend of the message, even in front of the signature when I use one. In other words, if I send you a text that says test and then want to add a quick text, it automatically places at the end of the message (instead of where the cursor is in the message.. I think it was caused by: I do not know. firstname.lastname@example.org
