Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to add a child to Kid Mode on an HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen.
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen, and at the bottom of the screen, we will see several icons.
We now need to find the Settings menu, and to do that, we need to swipe the Notification panel down.
To open the Notification panel, start at the top of the screen, and swipe downwards.
Now, we can see that the Notification panel has appeared.
We are looking for the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
It is a white cog icon. This is our Settings icon.
Press down on this icon, and it will open up the "Settings" menu.
It says the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
Now, let's scroll down to the "PERSONAL" section, indicated by the word "PERSONAL" in the gray bar.
In this section, we are looking for the "Security" option.
Next to the word "Security" is an icon of a padlock.
Press down on this option, and it will open up our "Security" menu.
We are looking for the second option from the top.
It says, "Kid Mode". Press down on this section.
In the "Kid Mode" section, we are looking for the first option that says "Parent Dashboard".
Press down on this option, and it will open up our Kid Mode option. What we can do in Kid Mode is add a number of children. We can add multiple children and create a separate profile and separate page for each child. That means that we can set different limits for each child as well as age-specific activities. We can also let them use different applications. If we have one child that is 8, and one that is 14, we can create radically different pages for those children with features specific to their ages.
In order to create a new page and add a child to the Kid Mode, we need to press down on the section at the top.
Right now, it says "Bob", and this is the name of one of the children we have added to this application.
As soon as we press down on that name, a menu will appear.
It shows the one name, and underneath it says "Add Child".
This will bring up the screen where we will add the information for the child.
First, type in a "Nickname" for the child.
We'll just put "Ash".
If some suggested spellings appear, just press anywhere on the screen where there is no text to remove these and get rid of the keyboard.
We can also edit the "Birthday" by pressing down on either the month or the year, and then choosing from the menu that appears.
We can tap on "Edit photo" at the bottom of the square box to add a photo if desired.
This will take us to our photo album. If we have a photo of our child, we could choose that, but we don't have a photo of our child currently. We can use any photo, so press down on a photo to add it. It is better to use a photo of the child because in the actual Kid Mode application, we'll be able to see the different children, and each one will be identified by this photo.
Once happy with all of the information, press the purple "Save" button at the bottom left corner of the screen.
That will save this child's profile.
Now, we have successfully added a child to this Kid Mode application.
This concludes our tutorial on how to add a child to Kid Mode on an HTC One M8. If you have any questions or comments about this video or about the process you have seen in this video, then please leave them in the comment section below, and we shall answer them for you.
