Add, Remove and Split Audio Tracks using Corel VideoStudio X8

Edited by Colette Cole, Crystal, Eng, OtisPub and 2 others

Welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to split the audio for editing or removal in Corel VideoStudio X8.

Steps

  1. 1
The first thing we want to do is make sure we have the video we want to split the audio from
    .
This would be an existing video that we would like to remove the audio from. Perhaps it's just noise, or we want to do a narration over top, or we just want to play music instead of someone's voice and we don't want the two things playing together. We've already added a video and we're going to select the clip by clicking on it.

Once we click on it, we're going to right-click and click on "Split Audio"

  3. 3
We'll see that we now have a clip of only the video and no sound
    .
At the bottom, we have another clip of the audio.

At this point, we can select the audio, and we will see a new options menu shows up on the top right area of the screen

From here, we can increase or decrease the volume

We can click "OK", "Preview" or "Cancel" when we're done with that
    .
This is good for if we want to show photos while still hearing the audio. We can just change the duration of the clip and increase or decrease the speed of the clip as well.

The other option, as mentioned before, is to remove it
    .
We can do that by selecting the audio and hitting the "Delete" button on the keyboard, or right-click and click on "Delete". Now we simply have a clip with only the visual part. We don't have the sound.

The audio recording is now playing with the video
    .
In this case, the image is shorter than the audio so we could add photographs or whatever our imagination comes up with. Corel VideoStudio is a very user-friendly software package, so there are many possibilities with it.

Of course, we should save any changes we make in VideoStudio by clicking on "File" and "Save" so that it will be available to us for next time
    .
As long as it is a VideoStudio file, we can come back in and change these settings. If we save it like this, this is how we will see it the next time we open it. We can't change anything once we have rendered our video because these are basically individual layers.

That is basically how you split the audio from an existing video and replace it with music or a voiceover in Corel VideoStudio X8

Questions and Answers

How do I line up the new audio, which I recorded separately?

Hi! I recorded the audio with a better microphone, while my video camera was recording. I like your tutorial on how to split off and delete the original crummy audio. How do I align the "good" audio track with the visuals? Thanks!

Synchronizing a new track with the old video can be a long and thorough process. It can be like jeweller's work where every millisecond counts. Sometimes, synchronizing and editing may even take 1 hour per 1 minute.

To split your audio track in two moveable pieces, click the spot where you want to split it and click the scissors icon
    .
By splitting, you can achieve smaller pieces that can be adjusted in duration, location, or speed.

  2. 2
If your video is behind or ahead of the track, zoom in and move the small piece left or right on the timeline by clicking and dragging the track.

  3. 3
If something in your audio is slower or faster than it should be, you need to slow the track piece down or make it faster as shown in the tutorial.

If you cannot match the video with the audio at all, then you can rerecord only a small piece and insert it.

How do you delete part of the visual part of the video without the sound also being deleted?

Hello,. I'm trying to delete a portion of a video and replace the image during that span of time with the image from a different video. But I would like the sound from the first video to continue playing while the second video is being shown. When I try to delete the segment of the first video, it moves the audio, too. Do you know how to solve this problem? Thank you! I am trying to keep the audio and swap out a portion of the video not keep the video while not wanting the sound.
