It is really hard to tell: motherboards can be picked as very identical to each other, making OS reinstallation redundant. Unless BIOS versions differ and you remember the number of the previous one or unless you have recorded the serial number, it is often nigh to impossible to tell the difference. To check the serial number of the motherboard, press the Windows key, type "cmd", and press "Enter". Then, type this command:

WMIC baseboard get product,Manufacturer,version,serial number

You will get the name and the serial number of your current motherboard. If you have the previous motherboard serial number saved somewhere (for example, in a manual), then you can tell if it was replaced.

My laptop screen died while using it?

I bought a new memory and installed it, the laptop won't turn on. But I have the power lights turned on and CD door will open, and you can plug in a USB light and it will work. I have tried: New RAM cards, not able to get the monitor to work in VGA. So maybe the VGA has no driver I don't know. I think it was caused by: Screen is fried, but I can't get the monitor to work

The laptop Acer Aspire ES1-511 is trying to turn but it won't boot up at all?

The laptop Acer Aspire ES1-511 is trying to turn but it won't boot up at all. The fan is turning on for a second and then it dies. Do you think the motherboard is dead?

This can be caused by several reasons.

  1. 1
    Bad charger
    .
A charger has a power supply unit that can be faulty. If you have a spare charger with the same amperage (for example, 4 A) and voltage (for example, 220 V), then you can use it. You can use a higher amperage if a charger has a stabilizer, which is possible to tell only with an amperemeter.

  2. 2
    Connected devices
    .
Remove all of the USB devices to test that.

  3. 3
    Faulty battery
    .
Remove it and try to boot up only with a charger running into a wall socket.

  4. 4
Faulty or dirty RAM contacts or RAM socket
    .
Getting to RAM is really hard in Acer ES1-511; so, it is recommended to bring the laptop to the service center to check for RAM defects along with motherboard and GPU defects. However, if you want to get to RAM, then you must have experience with taking laptops apart. Again, you must be sure that you will not damage the laptop. You will need to turn the notebook over and remove all of the screws from the back cover. Lift the cover slightly and carefully by using a plastic object along one edge closer to the touchpad. Disconnect any connectors and remove the disk drive. Disconnect the GPU connector too. Then, you will need to turn over the small circuit board in the middle, which has the GPU unit, to reveal RAM. Take RAM out and clean it with an eraser. Clean the socket too. Reassemble everything.

    GPU and motherboard faults

Bring the laptop to an Acer service center.

Laptop with no screen output and fan not spinning?

I have a Samsung np550 laptop of which the BIOS settings and screen shows only at random intervals. Otherwise, the fan just spins and stops. No screen output. I have tried: I have Dismantled my laptop, removed the BIOS battery, interchanged the RAM. Tried with removing hard disk, optical drive etc. Tried running the system with only PSU power by removing the battery.

But no result. I think it was caused by: I have removed the laptop to clean the dust from the internal cooling fan. After cleaning and fixing it back I have tried to run the OS to check everything was working fine. The OS booted up but unfortunately, the connection with the hard disk lost in between. I have forcefully shut down the system and reconnected the hard disk properly and booted again but it has shown the BCD have corrupted. Then again I tried to boot but BIOS didn't show up. Could it be the firmware has been corrupted?

My acer laptop is not taking power, even it is plugged to the socket, is it a symptom of a dead motherboard?

While removing the damaged speakers of Acer aspire v3 571g, a steel blade fell above the motherboard.. and that time the laptop was directly connected to AC 220V without battery, after a second laptop got switched off and not showing any current or any lights? Is there any possibilities of motherboard got spoiled? After a blade fell on my laptop motherboard it stopped working is there is any possibilities where my power IC got damaged or the entire motherboard? I have tried: I tried swapping the RAM slot, removed the battery and installed again, checked the adapter it is fine. I think it was caused by: I think when a blade fell on my laptop motherboard it got short circuited and power IC got spoiled

Dell laptop shuts down on startup?

My laptop hit the floor. I can't start it with the start button, only when I plug in the power cord. The start button seems jammed. It loads logo, then says beep and turns off about 5 seconds after. If I press F2 or F12 the bar starts to load, but it still shuts down. Someone said the motherboard is broken!

A laptop stopped at the finger ID driver point then after no lights on the laptop, not even the charging one?

Brought is to a tech place. They said it probably is an EEPROM circuit that contains the BIOS. Would that appear as having no power responses? Or would be the motherboard's power supply being at fault if the power port that plugs in the power was fine? Should I mention this to the tech if so? Some fizz from soda went onto the keyboard. The keyboard worked fine still after that but the laptop failed to turn itself on. Differentiate power issues for BIOS vs power issues with a bad power supply of a laptop. I have tried: Send the unit to the manufacturer who said it is a motherboard level issue, but wanted a big deposit to "repair" it with a 90-day warranty if fixing the board. I think it was caused by: A glass of soda fizzed over the glass edge and went onto the keyboard area.

HP Envy 17t-k200 no power, won't turn on with battery or power supply cord?

Worked fine yesterday, today no power. Tried alternate power supply and cord, and other outlets, nothing. Trying to figure out if it is the motherboard and approximately how much it would cost to buy a new motherboard for this computer (is it worth it to fix). I have tried: We do not know what to try. We are told it is likely the motherboard. We tried to different power supply cords, in different outlets, with and without battery. The machine will not turn on at all. It is a brick. I think it was caused by: Again, based on what we have found on the internet and from two repair people we talked to, the is most likely the motherboard. Could be the power button board, but highly unlikely. We are trying to figure out how much a new motherboard for this machine costs, where we might be able to purchase it, and if it makes sense to do that or to buy a new computer based on the price.

Sir, my (Dell) laptop once fell off the study table as my brother tried to get off the bed meanwhile entangling his leg in the charger wire. The laptop functioned well for 2-3 days, (The screen did not crack or any physical visible damage was seen.) After that it did not take any power supply and it did not get charge. A small metal like something was seen attached to CPU fan, and since then it is a box?

I have explained this to a computer repairing shop. He said that the motherboard is crushed to pieces .Sir what's the remedy. Will the repair be too expensive?
